Land of Tomorrow Exhibition:
This architecture exhibition of student works has it all—transmogrifications, strange sensations, primal textures, unfamiliar geometries, self-propagating architectural species, augmented atmospherics, vicissitudinous juxtapositions, reinvented building typologies, sensual pleated skins, a crisis or two, physiologically responsive interfaces, threshold blurring gizmos, and plenty of robots.
To take the work further the folks at PR&vD are constructing three prototypes to show off the possibilities of fabrication and material experimentation at the start of the 21st century.
Land of Tomorrow Gallery and suckerPUNCH are mounting an exhibition slated for Fall 2012 featuring this last year’s hottest work from architecture students in the United States. Collected from the spring and fall semesters of 2011, the work features cutting edge experimentations in technology, space, and materials. The show is to be comprised of 20 projects, selected through online voting that took place at suckerpunchdaily.com in the Spring of 2012. A jury of architects, including Hernan Diaz Alonso, Aaron Betsky, Mark Gage, Greg Lynn, Michael Speaks, and Tom Wiscombe selected three of the projects to have prototypes fabricated by PR&vD. The exhibition will open at the Land of Tomorrow Gallery (Lexington KY) in September 2012, with plans for it to travel to other cities, including Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago.
The three finalists whose projects will be fabricated as prototypes are: Ivan BERNAL, Ji-Young YOON, and Donovan Ballantyne.

The exhibition is a unique way for the public to engage with contemporary student work from the country’s leading architecture schools—work that generally goes unseen. It is also a rare opportunity to see the explorations of multiple schools in one location and the current state of research in American schools of architecture.
The esteemed faculty involved with the student projects to be exhibited includes: Erick CÁRCAMO, Lisa IWAMOTO & Craig SCOTT, Michael YOUNG, Lisa TILDER, Andrew ZAGO, Devyn WEISER, Sir Peter COOK, Elena MANFERDINI, Stephen PHILLIPS, Francois ROCHE With Ezio BLASETTI, Georgina HULJICH, Perry KULPER, Kory BIEG, Sean LALLY, Gabriel ESQUIVEL, Michael CHEN, and Jason LEE from institutions including SCI-Arc, Pratt Institute, Columbia GSAPP, Harvard GSD, Univeristy of Illinois at Chicago, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Yale SOA, UCLA, University of Michigan, Cal Poly–SLO, and Academy of Art University.
A full-color catalogue documenting the exhibition and its works, and including contributions from leading architecture educators and critics will be available for free following the show’s opening.
PR&vD provide custom fabrication, product development, manufacturing, and sales and marketing services for museum art and design objects, custom interior design installations, and innovative interior design product concepts. They have produced work that is in the collections of MAK Vienna, SF Moma, and the Art Institute of Chicago. In addition to fabricating art and design, PR&vD co-founded, along with Dima Strakovsky, the Land of Tomorrow (LOT) Gallery as a project space dedicated to the making and showing of experimental work in the fields of art, design, and music in Kentucky. LOT operates over 25,000 SF of exhibition area supported by many amazing and talented people.
